Brenda El Rayes (b.1993 Södertälje) is a Swedish composer and sound artist of Lebanese/Syrian origin. El Rayes works with church music and electronic music, creating a fusion between them. She is interested in what makes us humans go into trance when we listen to music. Her electro-acoustic music is inspired by her Christian Lebanese background.

In 2023, El Rayes created ‘Disrupting Ebb and Flow’, a work for public space in collaboration with artist Elin Stampe, at Sergels Torg (Sergel’s Square) in Stockholm. In the spring of 2023, El Rayes participated in an exhibition with Konst Detox in Portal, Södertälje konsthall’s exhibition space for smaller exhibitions. She showed video and sound as well as the installation work ‘Sorg’ (Grief) (2022) where sound and image came from Lebanon and El Rayes’ own childhood. The work has previously been shown at FOLK in Skärholmen (2022), Skånes Konstförening (2023) and Brändan (2023).

El Rayes grew up in Södertälje and is currently working and living in Stockholm. In addition to her artistry, she is also a DJ and performs at various festivals and stages both around Sweden and abroad.
