Visas mellan

14/03 – 12/09, 2025

Throughout 2025, Södertälje will be filled with sports at different levels for everyone who lives here and visits us can take part in and practice even more sports in our municipality. Södertälje konsthall has delved deeply into the municipality’s art collection and selected art where movement is a common starting point. The exhibition shows a mix of paintings and sculptures that depict movement and sports. From Pablo Picasso dated 1959 to Liv Strömquist from 2013, different aspects of physical activity are shown, from everyday scenes to dynamic portraits of athletes.

You find Södertälje Art Museum at the entrance in the City Hall. Open for everyone to visit when the City Hall is open, usually office hours Monday to Friday. Adress: Nyköpingsvägen 26, Södertälje.

Södertälje konsthall was founded in 1968 and is one of the country’s oldest municipal art galleries. More than half a century has passed, over the years the art collection has expanded and today includes approx. 6000 works. It consists of both local, national and international art. A treasure that belongs to the municipality’s residents and deserves to be shown to the public as much as possible.

We are also screening a work by Alexandra Larsson Jacobson – We Play, I Push, You Hold, We Fall (2024) in the exhibition.

Larsson Jacobson’s background in dance has influenced her work in several ways, not least her interest in how we communicate through our bodies, beyond words.

In the film, three young dancers, directed by the artist, interact. We find ourselves in a dimly lit pool. We follow them under and above the water surface in a kind of improvised dance that oscillates between lively play, wrestling-like struggle and a quiet community where the line between play and uncomfortable seriousness is unclear, all to a suggestive specially composed sound by Mira Eklund.

Alexandra Larsson Jacobson was born in 1982 and lives in Stockholm. She is educated at Konstfack, (MFA), Stockholm 2018–2020, Course Fassbindermaskin at Stockholm’s Academy of the Arts 2014 and Konsthögskolan at Umeå University (BFA) 2009–2012. She also has professional training from Fotoskolan STHLM in Stockholm 2006–2008. Larsson Jacobsson has exhibited in Sweden and internationally since 2008.
