ARNE JONES (1914-1976) was a sculptor and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in the years 1961 – 1971. Jones started his only as a stonemason but had ambitions with his own art and studied sculpture for Professor Eric Grate. Jones became the leading sculptor in the group 1947 year old men. At first his creations were strongly abstract but later changed to a more semi-abstract, surrealistic form. Many of his later works are characterized by the lyrically ambiguous and organically uplifting.
