Female Photographers in the Nordic Region was established in 1988 to support and inspire female photography and encourage innovation and development, as well as to contribute to co-operation between the Nordic countries. The sixteen participating artists each made an individual interpretation of the theme of age, where a central thought was reflections on their own body.

-The thoughts have revolved around the woman’s life cycle with childhood, childbirth, bodily desire and aging. Some, on the other hand, have interpreted age as a flow of time, another as memories from past cultures, and a third as society’s method of setting limits for what is allowed at a certain age, writes exhibition commissioner Pia Thunholm. -The works on display are different in expression and shape. Photography in glass and frame is exhibited together with photos of fabric, plexiglass, concrete or arranged in installations.
