This exhibition was on show at the same time as Five Cubans (Fem kubaner) and Conquistadors (Conquistadorer).
Afro-Art World Crafts Foundation was founded in 1967 to support crafts in non-industrialised regions and countries. The exhibition was from Afro-Art in Stockholm. Textiles were shown from nine weaving cooperatives in Guatemala. The traditional textiles were from villages in the highlands of Guatemala and made by the native Maya people; weaving skills that have been inherited through the generations. The raw materials wool and cotton that were used can be found in the country.
