Group exhibition
is an exhibition of art from Södertälje municipality’s art collection. We would like to draw attention to the 40th anniversary of the Chilean coup in 1973. On September 11, 1973, President Salvador Allende and the elected Chilean government were overthrown.
A military junta seized power. The city of Södertälje, remote from Chile, was also affected by the events. People fleeing the new regime came here, to stay for a shorter time or for good. The works of art we have selected from the collection are represented by Jørgen Buch, Roj Friberg, Juan Castillo, Maria Gaete Gwynne, Carlos Hermosilla Alvarez, Roberto Matta, Rolando Perez, Olof Sandahl and Hector Siluchi.
The exhibition also includes some borrowed material and printed matter from the time.
