Widenfalk educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo had his first solo exhibition in a larger format in 1989 in Odense. The exhibition at Södertälje Art Gallery became the first major presentation in Sweden. At the same time, his large sculpture “History and fairy tale” was inaugurated at Bårsta school. Heavy stone sculptures, preferably in granite and marble, filled the art gallery. Lars Widenfalk combines the large form with the richly articulated detail. He combines architectural elements with organic forms without threatening the nature of the stone. Sometimes he costs himself to “conjure” with the stone and combines with his violin of stone Stradivarius’ and Michelangelo’s arts. His sculptural starting points can be found in Constantin Brancusi’s pillar and egg shapes. The pillar and the column in Widenfalk, with different stylistic features, suggest human history, her civilization and cultural struggle. Her aspirations can be indicated by stair and terrace motifs, positions achieved through crowned plateaus and capital forms, and throne- and chair-like seats. ”. The exhibition at the art gallery further led to a new decorating assignment for placement on Stortorget in Södertälje. “Sculpture landscape” from 1993 in granite, has a division into two parts. A chair that the viewer is invited to sit in, as well as a rectangular shape, a fountain with classic architectural elements from ancient cultures.
