The drawing is the art form that has most often been overshadowed, writes Kristina Möller, then art gallery director, in the preface. “One could explain the drawing as a visual image of a mental process – a thought – as an insight into the artist’s soul.”

Drawing as a basis for all artistic creation, as spontaneous graffiti at staff meetings as well as preparatory sketches for a painting, a sculpture, architecture or a garden. Drawing is the original and most primitive form of image creation. Just think of the brilliantly skilfully executed drawings on the wall of the Altamira Cave in Spain from 15,000-10,000 BC or on the cave walls in Lascaux in France. ”

20 artists were invited to the exhibition. They had to contribute 3-5 drawings, the techniques were varied. There was no particular theme as a starting point, but the intention was to fill the art gallery to the width and height. An intention they managed to implement.

“The art of drawing is well worth a renaissance. With this exhibition, we want to give the drawing its rightful intrinsic value as an independent art form. ”.

Participating were Molly Bartling, Håkan Bengtsson, Niklas J Brandow, Björn Brusewitz, Rune Claesson, Carlos Decker-Yañez, Ole Drebold, Leif Elggren, Urban Engström, Ylva Friberg, Cecilia Frisendahl, Ida Isakson, Lars Isacson, Peter Johansson, Bruno Knutman, Klara Kristalova, Jockum Nordström, Petter Pettersson, Johan Thurfjell and Eva Zettervall.
